Soooooooooo today I've got a special post. It's not a school task it's just a post me, my sister and my cousins have created. It all started off with me and Alfie [one of my cousins] playing In bottle lake forest while we were walking their dog. Anyway, the story is about four Robloxians, two dads and two young teen girls. The two dads live in Robloxia and one of the girls live in adopt me and the other is from royal high but she is studying the adopt me pets. They will have to stop the evil Falin Boss one way or another! Toodles! XD

Amazing Aotearoa

 Hiya Bloggers I'm back

Today half of the Toroa hub was out sailing the rest to us, on the other hand, had to do some inquiry task about New Zealand. What else is part of our New Zealand culture? The first thing I did was New Zealand culture we had to write about The Ta Moko, Korowai and Haka and how they have changed over time. Next, we had to make a Hangi thing but I did not have my device that day so I had to make a poster on how the Hangi has changed over time. Last we had to create an animation about New Zealand's traditional game called Ki-o-Rahi and we had to show you how to play the game, Now I know that it is not sooooo acutret mabey don't listen to it. Well, I don't have much more say sooooooooo Toddles!

The Final launch

Today Was the final day of our rocket launching! Our rocket Was very decent in the launch at least it did not launch up and then hit the ground like some peoples rockets. But we could have not done this without our rocket instructors, called Variety, Carl and Gaven! They were amazing [sorry to Gaven if I spelt your name wrong!] My Instructor was called Variety! Our rocket team is called Hog Riders! [I did not choose the name] The members of our team were Me, Brock, Ayjay, Blake, Henry, Fletcher, Zoe and Tayla! Yellowstone's Saver

Today I don't have much to say to you but I still have some stuff to say. For our task, we had to write about wolves in Yellowstone and wolves in France. But we also had to say what we think about wolves. Anyway bye! What do you think about wolves!!!

In Yellowstone, the wolves were eradicated but after many years they were reintroduced and a trophic cascade began bringing everything back to life. This was a positive effect on the land.

In France the wolves were a negative impact on the land they killed the farmer's sheep and they tore through the land.

I think that wolves are amazing creatures because of their smarts and there hunting skills. [They are also so cute!!!] 

Codesters! My first code!

Today after tech we had to make a code on codesters. This was my first time making a code so if you don't like it to bad. But we had to make the code for a situation in the world, I chose to do it on the turtles. No stop what your thinking, not the meme save the turtles. I actually mean save the turtles. Today is probably my favourite task at school ever! Because it involved MINECRAFT!!! [Education edition] We had to recreate Yellowstone national park in Minecraft. We had to make Yellowstone before wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone before wolves were back in Yellowstone it was all barren and when wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone everything was like paradise. Anyway thats all today bye!

Carbonated drinks vs Mentos

Today in class we did an experiment to find out what carbonated drink would have the biggest reaction to mentos. The drinks we had was Diet coke, L&P, Sprite, Lift, Fizzy Lemonade and mabey one more. The Biggest reaction was Fizzy Lemonade. The worst reaction was L&P or Lift. Anyway that's all for today ta ta and stay safe.

Simple Samoan

 Hey everyone 

I hope you are all staying very safe. Today after Tech Mrs Osborn got all us back into Samoan, today though we had to make a little animation or a scratch. I chose to make an animation with Lord Voldemort on his Samoan vacation. I only have simple words in this like Tālofa, 'O  ā mai 'oe. Nasa's Fastest Parachute [We made it]

Welcome back to another post today Me, Kadyn and Jordan have made a parachute. This parachute was made for the rocket challenge. If you don't know what the rocket challenge is, I suggest having a look at the Toroa site on the inquiry part of the website. So what would possibly make this parachute better than it already is? For one we could have made it bigger, we also could have added an extra layer so it could hold the weight of the two hexes. Thats all for today ta ta now!

Why was Velcro used for space missions?

Welcome to another post. For inquiry, our topic is science [Space.] I love space so this is my stuff. Our task was to do a tick-tack tow of an ako sheet. It is where you have to do three in a row on the sheet. I only got to do one but it was worth it. I choose to do an animation about why was velcro used for space missions? The characters I used for my animation are from the Roblox franchise Piggy, the characters names are: Mr.P, Doggy and Bunny. I hope you like my animation. Ta ta my little Piggys!!!        

The Input Output robot

Hi Bloggers and welcome to my first post for the term.

In maths, we have been having to find out the rule for an input-output square well the shape doesn't really matter. So what you would do is, there would be three numbers on one side of the shape and another three on the other side. once you see all six you will then have to find out the rule. {eg. x4-2}

Anyway here is an animation that Kadyn and I have made hope you like it.

Have you always wanted to see the Southern lights or the Northern lights? Well, I know this task has made me want to see the Southern lights or the Northern lights. Today's create task was to make the Southern lights. I personally liked this task, I love my picture. I hope you all like it to.

1. The Southern Lights is a natural light display, that covers most of Antarctica. The colours are usually green, red or some times blue.

2. Being so far south, New Zealand is an excellent destination to see the Auroras. [But I have never seen them.]

Maths Time [Algebra]

Today In maths Kadyn and me got to make our own Algebra pattern. We had to make a shape pattern first, and then put the first five of the shapes on the slide. [It's in the picture.] After that, we had to write in all of our numbers in the slide. We had to put 9 table grids in. Anyway, that's plenty for, Ta ta now.

When reading a book, have you ever been curious about something you were reading, and wanted to find out more to help you understand what you were reading better?  We have been learning about how important this is this week in Literacy.

When we read The Magic School Bus inside the human body’ I formed some advanced questions using ‘how’ and ‘why’.  I made sure they were open-ended questions that would help me understand the book more.  An example of one of my questions was “Why are intestines coiled up?’ and I then researched and found out that an adults intestine is 7.5m long, so it needs to coil up so that it fits in the body.

Next, we got to chose our own book to read out of our virtual library and we had to form 3 advanced questions about it.  Our create task this week was to share these in a creative way.  I chose to do it with Renderforest and it was about a book called ‘In his blood’

I really enjoyed this task as it made me realise how important it is to do this when reading to understand the text better.

Matariki the movie

Today me, Kadyn and Jordan have made a movie for you all. Its called Matariki the movie. This task was fun to do, we got to choose how we wanted to make it as you will see we have chosen to do an animation once we finished with making the animation we did a voice over so now it is a movie that you all can watch. End of angles and the start of algebra

Most of this week I was home sick but hopefully, by the time you read this, I will be all feeling all better. While I was sick I have still been doing my school work, well most of it...

This post is about my maths. We have been learning how to find the missing angle without measuring but calculating it. The other part of our maths was the beginning of algebra. We had to work out a formula which would help us to find how many matchsticks were in a shape. Ta ta see you back here with another post soon.

         

Fractured fairy tale - Billy Goats Gruff

It's me, Billy! Today I have a book I'm working on called Billy Goats Gruff using Book creator. Now I know this book has been made before but this is my fractured fairy tale. A fractured fairy tale is where you use a normal fairy tale [Billy Goats gruff] and only change a tiny bit. What I changed was insted of a troll it is a yeti. Angles the Robot

Today in maths we had to make a robot on google drawings and then we had to measure it using a protractor but before we did that we had to estimate the angles on the robot. Now we had to use a protractor to see if we estimated. You might see this robot in an animation in the future. Here is Angles the robot hope you like him. But for now ta ta and have a lovely day.

Sunny Siapo

One of the oldest and most important traditions of Samoa is the Siapo or Tapa.  It is a type of cloth made from the bark of the mulberry tree.  It is very time-consuming because the bark must be harvested, stripped, separated, scraped and beaten before it can be used.  It is then laid out in the sun to dry.

The artist uses natural dyes, created from items such as berries, bark, and nuts to make patterns on the cloth. 

There are 13 traditional patterns used on siapo that represent things common to Samoan culture such as nets, coconut leaves, shells and flowers.

Angels angles

For numeracy today, we have started to learn about angles. 

We learnt about 3 different angles today - acute (less than 90°), right angle (90°), and obtuse (larger than 90° but smaller than 180°).  We also learnt how to use a protractor to measure angles.  We know that we need to measure an angle from a vertice (a corner where two straight lines meet).

For our create task, we had to measure three different angles on the first letter of our name - can you figure out if they are acute, right angle or obtuse?

Climate change is a horror story

Today's post is about climate change. I actually finished this yesterday but I posted this well today. I had to put four to five videos on four to five slides you will see them later on. I also had to write notes/facts about climate change but we had to watch the videos to get the facts. So now I will leave the rest to you.

Poor Poppies

This week for literacy we have been learning about inferencing and show not tell.  When we read something, we automatically start making inferences, so it is important when we write that we give clues in our writing that allow people to make inferences.  We want to show them - not tell them.
For example:  Paul was frustrated when he got to the bus stop and realised he had just missed the bus.  But instead I could write “Running as fast as he could, Paul turned the corner only to see the back of the bus as it pulled away.  Throwing his bag down on the ground and sighing out loud, Paul realised that he had no choice, but to sit and wait for the next bus to arrive - 20 minutes from now”  You can infer from me saying ‘throwing his bag down and sighing out loud’ that he is frustrated.
Our task was to create a video that accompanied a piece of writing about an elderly man.  We used Adobe Spark to do this. 
Have a look at my video and see if you can you make some inferences about what I have written.

Soggy school work

For numeracy this week, we have been learning about grid references and we have been working on 4 and 6 digit grid references.

We learnt that we read across the bottom of the grid first (Eastlings) and then up the side second (Northings).

Our task today was to look at an aerial map of our school, write down the 6 digit grid references for the letters that our teacher had put on it, and then go in hunt of those points.  At each point, there was 1 or 2 letters.  Once we had them all, we had to come back into the hub and unscramble the letters to figure out what it spelt.  The secret sentence was ‘Happy Birthday Zoe’.

I really enjoyed the task, the reason why I called is Soggy school work was because the grass was very wet.  Have you ever had to use grid references before in real life?  What was it for?

Tiny Twits

This week we have been looking carefully at making inferences when we read or watch something. 

An inference is when we take clues from a text or image, and
add them to our thoughts or prior knowledge and make an inference. 
For example,  when I look at this photo, I might make the inference that
this photo was taken in a food factory as everyone is wearing hair
nets and this is required in all food factories.

The text that we read a snippet out of was ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl.
Once we had read the first few chapters where they described the main characters, Mr and Mrs Twit, we then had to make some inferences based on the clues that Roald Dahl had given in the text.

I used Google Draw to create a display of my inferences I have made about Mr and Mrs Twit.

Buzzy Bee Bots

For Numeracy this week we have been looking at compass directions.  We have worked on reading maps using the 8 main directions - North, South, East, West, North-East, South-East, North-West and South-West and then we moved onto using Beebots and our knowledge of compass directions to get a Beebot through the grid to various locations.

We had to programme the Beebot with our own algorithm, using forwards, backwards, turn right, turn left and N, S, E, W.  It was important that we regularly tested our algorithm to check we didn’t need to de-bug (find a problem and fix it).

Literacy

Today I have picked two things for literacy that I really enjoyed doing. The first one is my website with interesting facts about Roald Dahl because we are reading Going Solo at the moment.

Now for my other favourite. My literacy teachers read a chapter from Going Solo about Roald Dahl flying to a place destroyed by the Germans to deliver a parcel to a man named Carter, that we knew nothing about. Roald Dahl wasn't allowed to know what the parcel was about and it couldn't fall into enemy hands. We had to write what we thought happened to Carter and the parcel. Here is my story.
